Kevin teaches broadcast journalism here at Missouri State. He is also the instructor and Executive Producer for the department’s news show Ozarks News Journal. He is a veteran of broadcast news in many capacities. Kevin worked as a writer/producer and reporter for several TV and radio stations in the Youngstown, Ohio and Pittsburgh, Pa. area. Most recently he served as an anchor/reporter for the award winning news team at WVLK News in Lexington, Ky. He has also worked extensively as a freelance videographer, editor and voice over artist throughout western Pennsylvania, eastern Ohio, Washington, DC and now here in Springfield. Kevin was named the 2002 recipient of the Thomas J. Aylward journalism scholarship while working toward his doctorate at Maryland. Kevin taught courses in broadcast journalism at UMD and Catholic University before becoming a full-time faculty member of the University of Maryland from 2005-2008. While at Maryland, Kevin also served as Co-Director/Production Manager of the multi-award winning nightly newscast Maryland Newsline. His research interests include FCC policy and deregulation, election coverage and race in media.
