Student Opportunities and Services

Hands-on learning

We understand that filmmakers, journalists, new media developers, audio and video producers, and screenwriters learn best by actually producing work – both inside and outside the classroom. You will have many chances to hone your craft through a variety of introductory, intermediate and advanced production opportunities. At Missouri State, you will learn by doing as well as by studying media, journalism and film.

Many of our journalism and production students choose to hone their skills through our internship program, making valuable connections in the industry while gaining hands-on experience.

  • Crewing on some of the many short dramatic films, multi-camera projects, documentaries and experimental films we produce each semester
  • Exploring the MJF Production Center, where you can learn about facilities and reserve equipment and lab space

Our students have enjoyed great success, winning over 500 regional, national and international awards for the work they have produced here at Missouri State.
