DIRECTOR: Patricia Moraz
CAST: Christine Pascal; Mathieu Carrière
SYNOPSIS
Jenny,
a young high student, was found died in the snow. Jenny hardly had contact with
her comrades, if there's no Lise, her only friend. Different from most of her
generation, She appreciated the teaching at high school, for this reason, she
felt separately, condemning the indifference and the futility.
Lise
is her opposite. She is sure that she seems not to have the problems of communication.
At the time of their meetings, it is always Lise who speaks. However, the day
when Lise discovers that she is pregnant, she doesn't have courage to face the
psychiatrist to obtain the medical certificate for the abortion. It is Jenny who
undertake it.
They
spend their evening together, In accompany of Guillaume and Matthias, two somewhat
disillusioned coffee revolutionists. Nostalgia brings the friends together, including
Anna, a young teacher. One evening, Lise does not telephone Jenny whereas she
had promised it to her. The following day, Jenny doesn't go with the group. She
left solely, fell in the snow.
NOTE
This
is a film rarely known now. It was directed by swiss female
director Parricia
Moraz, based on the real newstory. The film actually went to "Quinzaine
des
Realisateurs" at Cannes Film Festival in 1977, while "Lacemaker"
was being presented at its Official Competition. A film made at the same time
to "Lacemaker", in which Isabelle played another very young and shy
girl. - FORUM

Isabelle Huppert
"The cinema, is the rhythm"
by Franck Garbarz and Yann Tobin Positif,

The
real work is "Lacemaker", even if there're some films like "Aloïse" or "Les Valseuses".
I did those things very differently. But there was three sufficient enough roles
before - Aloïse by Liliane de Kernandec (1974), The Lacemaker by Claude Goretta
(1977) and Les Indiens sont Encore Loin by Patricia Moraz (1977) - for giving
me the effect that I hadn't specialized in this register - painful at the bottom
of precipice.
