Pas de
Scandale (1999)
DIRECTOR: Benoît Jacquot
CAST: Fabrice Luchini; Vincent Lindon; Vahina Giocante; Sophie Aubry
SYNOPSIS
Gregoire
Jeancurt, an industrial man, is released from the prison, his wife Agnes meets
him in a cafe. A distance between them is obviously. The life in prison has changed
in his relationship to others. He behaves strangely: set up a bed in another room,
kept silent in an interview show, fascinated by a young girl - Stephanie, whose
boyfriend was kept in the same prison and was released on the same day....tensions
between Gregoire and his wife, brother, as well as others...
NOTE
The
film is more about brotherhood, but Isabelle is sublime as
a wife, who has to
meet her husband's indifference after he is released from the prison. Many of
her trademark performance involved: blank look, silence, saying
this while thinking
of other... She is also very sensual, but remains in distance and cold. - FORUM

Official Selection of Venice International Film
Festival in 1999.
TRIVIA
It's
the third film Isabelle made with Benoit Jacquot, the first one was in 1981 -
about 17 years before, the last one was only a year before. Although she was not
in the center of the film, obviously Benoit Jacquot cast her quite well, as a
bourgeois wife, anxious about husband's indifference.
