Financial Assistance
The office of financial aid offers a number of scholarships and
awards for students meeting qualifications, including grade point
average, minimum credit hour status and financial need. You may apply
for one of these scholarships and awards using an online application
form available at the Financial Aid website:

The Department of Media, Journalism and Film also has developed scholarships specifically
targeted for its majors, a number of which are listed below. To apply

Scholarships available at MSU for Media, Journalism & Film Majors

Eddie Bass Scholarship
Students must be a full-time junior or senior journalism major with a 3.0 cumulative GPA.
Ruth N. Dowling Memorial Scholarship
Students must be a full-time journalism major. This scholarship is available to incoming freshman. Currently enrolled students must have a cumulative GPA of 3.0.
Minrose Lucas Quinn Media Scholarship
Students must be a full-time junior or above Media, Journlaism & Film major with a 3.0 cumulative GPA. Recipient must plan to pursue a career in radio, television, broadcasting or film.
Bill Snyder Memorial Scholarship
Student must be a junior or senior journalism major or minor with a 3.0 cumulative GPA.
Darr Family Broadcast Journalism Scholarship
Student must be a Broadcast Journalism major. Preference will be given to incoming freshman. Consideration will be given to high school performance, college potential as indicated by aptitude tests and to leadership qualities. When awarded to a student enrolled at the sophomore level or higher, the student must have an overall GPA of 3.0 and a 3.0 GPA in Broadcast Journalism classes.
Dale Freeman Scholarship
Student must be a print journalism major or minor. When awarded to student enrolled at the sophomore level or higher, the student must have maintained an overall GPA of 2.75.
Chris Sifford Memorial Scholarship
Student must be full-time sophomore or higher majoring in journlaism or communication. Preference will be given to students from the following counties: Boone, Cole, Audrain, Callaway, Moniteau, Cooper, Howard, Randolph, Stoddard and Greene. Student must maintain an overall GPA of at least 3.0.

Broadcast Education Association Scholarships
BEA is the professional development association for professors, industry professionals and students involved in teaching and research related to radio, television and other electronic media. BEA administers a variety of scholarships annually, to honor broadcasters and the broadcast industry. The BEA Two Year Scholarship is for study at schools offering only freshman and sophomore instruction or for study at 4-year institutions by graduates of BEA 2-year programs. All other scholarships are awarded to juniors, seniors and graduate students at BEA Member colleges/universities.
